Rahul and Meena, siblings, were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes more than a decade ago. Rahul was 13 years old and Meena was 9 years old when they were faced with the most difficult trial of their lives. They had to ride the rollercoaster of their blood sugar highs and lows with tremendous difficulty. It was difficult for them to get their blood sugars back on track at first. They have now brought not only their diabetes but also their lives back on track by successfully completing the 15th edition of the “Skechers Performance Chennai Marathon” and so putting a stop to the diabetes that had troubled them.
They serve as an example and an inspiration to everyone dealing with diabetes. To those who are feeling down and cursing themselves for the lemon that life has handed them, they say, squeeze it and drink it as lemonade.
They are co-founders of the Tamil Nadu Type 1 Diabetes Foundation and have worked tirelessly for the welfare of other children with diabetes.
